Equipment

  • small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bag black tea or 1 teaspoon loose leaf black tea
  • 1 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or sweetener optional
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish
  • additional ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the tea bag and steep for 3–5 minutes, depending on your desired strength.
  • Remove the tea bag and stir in the milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  • Heat the mixture over low-medium heat until warm, ensuring it does not boil. Sweeten with honey or your preferred sweetener if desired.
  • Pour the milk tea into a mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

Notes

For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea bag longer or use two tea bags. Adjust the sweetness and spice level to your preference. For an extra creamy texture, use whole milk or barista-style non-dairy milk like oat or almond.
